I'm picking up this unit, but I'm very confused with all the options there are with transducers. I need help with suggestions. Mainly lake fishing up to 100ft, bass fishing as shallow as 2-3ft. Thank you

HST-WSBL or HDI SKIMMER XDCR 83/200 455/800KHZ

What is the difference between these?

I believe the second one(HDI 83/200 455/800 kHz) is the one I got for down imaging. The one that came with my unit was fine but didn't offer down imaging. I ordered the HDI skimmer.

Get the 83/200 455/800 for shallow water with sonar and DSI. The Elite 7x doesn't have GPS, if you want GPS you need the Elite 7, but more $'s. Check board sponsor prices, has been better for me, check sales tax and shipping.

Elite 7x $393.95 minus $100 From Lowrance makes it $293.95
HDI SKIMMER XDCR 83/200 455/800KHZ Transducer $95.13
$389.08

If anyone would like to know where I got them for such a great price, pm me!

How would I get lost or killed with it not having GPS, when I've been fishing without a fish finder my entire life? Thank you for your comment

Twice I have been in fog so bad you could hardly see the front of the boat. GPS trail got me out. With lakes low, GPS trail kept from hitting a new boulder sticking its head up about 6 inches out of the water.

Simple answer is that its stupid to be out in fog like you describe with or without gps ..but we've all done it.

Doubt I'm gonna get lost or killed by not getting GPS. I'll take my chance
