Got a few days off this week and had planned to head out to Ivie tom. but upon returning from the coast, seen all the rain we've been getting. Would it still be worth making the 3 hour trip and fishing for two days? or has the water just messed everything up for a few days? any good info would be nice that way I can make the decision or not. it says no rain the next few days but i never trust the weatherman!

I haven't seen the lake for 3 weeks. Its up 8.25 ft. Call elm creek and ask Jerry, how the water looks. My Personal View, is if the weather is good wind wise, the change in Level would not stop me from going. You can't catch em if you don't go.

I'd wait myself as I've rarely done well after a big rise in water levels anywhere...river or lakes. Takes a while for fish to find their comfort zone again. On the other hand, if it means fishing or not fishing...I'd go every time. rolfmao

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I fished Ivie once after a 10' rise. It was brutal. I got 2 bites in 2 days. Could prove to be tough until things settle down

thanks for the advice guys but I looked at the weather and wind and looks awesome. I only have the next 2-3 days to go so Im making the trip. Packed the truck and am ready to go. leaving the house at 3am to get there in the morning. I figured if i fish for 2 straight days I'm bound to get a few pigs in the yak. if not, oh well! it would be worth the road trip. anyone know of any good places to check out? I'm going to plan on putting in at elm creek. what are the facilities like? I'm packing in sandwiches and snacks and water. but just in case i run out will i be able to get anything out there?

Elm Creek has great food. They open at 6am and grill closes about 5:30pm ish. Better check with Jerry on close time. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They have a small grocery store there too that sells drinks and snacks and some tackle.

Yep....Jerry and crew will take good care of you! Me personally.....I fished it a few days after it rose 15ft last time and didn't do all that great. The mud line was working down the lake and where it was.....there was a negative visibility factor. BUT.....in 3-4 weeks when the mud/sand settle.....oh man it's going to be good!!!!!
