So I received some bass pro gift cards for wedding gifts and have been wanting a 2 wt. I was going to pick up a TFO signature series rod (all my other rods 4,6,8 are TFO Pro series) when I saw this: http://www.basspro.com/White-River-Fly-S...51335/#desc-tabAnybody have experience with white river products? Thanks for the advice.

White river is ok but I would stick with TFO a Professional 8 foot is what I have and love it, lifetime warranty is the kicker for me.

I agree with Linecster. The White River stuff is not bad at all, I own several, but that TFO warranty is pretty sweet.
That being said, you have the gift cards, they are gonna burn a hole in a perfectly good pair of pants sooner or later. So yeah, go for it!

I think the white river stuff has a 25 year warranty. So it's not terrible. I really love my TFO rods but the 2wt white river combo looks to be a lot of bang for your buck.

I have a white river "two seventy" 8'9" 3 piece 4 weight and its one of the finest casters in my rod arsenal. I have probably 10 4 weights and its the pick of the litter. I don't know who makes bass pro's rods but its top quality. I also have several smaller, cheaper white river rods and theyre all good casters and fishers. I'm also a fan of TFO but white river products match them in many instances-p-

For $199, I'd be apt to stick with TFO. Pro Special II is $79.99 Then pair with a decent reel.

To my knowledge bass pro doesn't carry the pro special. Just the signature series ($120) and the pro series II ($150). I have $200 in basspro gift cards, and as somebody said, they are burning a hole in my pocket!

I can't recall the name, but it was Pro "something" and I got it for $79.99(I bought it in February of this year)....salesman did tell me a month ago he hasn't seen any since....but that doesn't surprise me with BPS. Good luck! I know how it is with those cards.

I can't make up my mind what to do now. Part of me wants to spend it on a TFO Finesse 2wt now! But that will leave no gift cards left for the reel and line, and after just getting married and honeymooning the fishing fund is severly drained! I'd have to wait a good month before I could buy a reel and line. Decisions Decisions.....

Just wait until you have a kid then you really get cut off! I'm cut off on spending and fishing. Oh well, I ran the roads and blew every cent I had for 10+ years.

I have a 6wt. It's fine. However, TFO is going to be much better They really do put out quality stuff.
