Took my new Academy sale special Pescador 12 out this morning for its maiden voyage. Spent about three hours out and had a total of 4 bass. Pic below is of the christening catch. Just a small one. Caught a nice 4 pounder and a couple more 1-2 pounders. All in all a very good morning. Enjoyed being on the water, enjoyed catching some fish. Enjoyed chatting with Garret as he and I were loading up to leave at the same time. From my first day out my two biggest priorities will be 1. Anchor trolley and anchor. Too much of a hassle trying to fight the breeze 2. Some more padding for the seat. My butt was a little cranky at the end. Think I'll fish a bit more before I decide on my tackle organization. Kevin

Congrats on your maiden voyage and first slime. Taking my 11 year old daughter out tomorrow for her maiden voyage. No fishing, just want her to get a feel for it first.

That's cool on taking your daughter. What kind of boat did she get. I've got a 13 year old that would love to go, just can't afford 2 boats at once.

Thought to myself, "self, you may have found a pattern". Sure enough all 4 of mine were on purple worms thrown to timber. Go get em boys.

Nothing fancy, but stable for her first yak. Actually got it for $120 with a Werner paddle from CL.

I'm new to the game too, maiden voyage was about 2 weeks ago. I agree with your two points! I got a trolley system yesterday and rigging that and the anchor system out today. Poured a five pound anchor out of concrete into a small plastic coffee can. We'll see how it works. And going to walmart later to see if I can find something to make an extra seat cushion out of.
