I've got my wife talked into a brand new used boat lol. I've fished out of bass cats most of my life. They great all around boats. Its just hard to find a good selection of used ones. Phoenix is right up there with basscat if not better in some ways. Then there's skeeter well built and super available. Its tough making a choice when it's gunna be about a 10 year commitment. I wanna hear some thoughts, pros, cons....
Ranger guys no offense but don't bother. I'll fish a tournament out of a paddle boat first

Skeeter rides fantastic and fishes very well with the uber wide decks but they're slow, have to fly the bow high to get any speed, and will feel like a dog coming from a cat.
Pheonix looks good, 9 series has a huge front deck as well, 7 series is skinnier and faster.
Shipps Marine is the dealer in this area for Pheonix, it's 3 hours from you and I don't know if you have one closer but the guys at Shipps are hands down the best sales and service dept I've dealt with in E Tx.

The only boat I have owned is a skeeter and I love it, so I would say skeeter.

If you're from Orange, search southeasttexas.com and craigslist. I also live in Orange and have found several clean used rigs on those two sites. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those boats, just look until you find a nice one in your price range and enjoy it. Seems to be lots of Skeeters in our area, so those will probably be easier to find. I'm surprised by the Ranger comment though, they build a nice boat with great floor plans. You need to choose the one you like best considering what's important to you. Looks, ride, storage, and resale are always things to consider. The fish don't care, so have fun searching and remember all those rigs are good boats.

I've talked to shipps. They have a 721 I'm very interested in. I can walk in there after not being in the store for 5-6 months and Brent meets me on the floor, shakes my hand, remembers everything about me etc. you rarely get personal service like that anywhere.
