bothersome sometimes but it will save you a lot of hassle other times.
its nice to b able to drop your
paddle in the water and not worry about it.

No leash, but I probably should use one. I have a quick snap that holds my paddle.

Not usually but my paddle isn't my primary mode of motivation. Having the Hobie helps there. I have one. Used it most of the time in my previous kayaks. Just don't use it much anymore.

I don't have all the answers, but I'm a quick learner!

none for me, its easy enough to use your hands to paddle to the paddle, or have a spare paddle. Don't like how it gets in the way.

Yes on leash. Something I think we all need to consider when leashing is not to make them overly strong. Plastic clips are probably adequate for most of what we are trying to retain.

Yes on the leash, no for one with any fabric. Hooks tend to find the fabric. I settled on this one and like it: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/729/Small-Coiled-Kayak-Paddle-Leash.html

I use a piece of parachute cord about 8 foot long; if my paddle is in the way I chunk it out of the boat. My fly line gets tangled in the kinky leashes which is why I use the straight parachute cord; the one thing you cannot do without is your paddle; always have a leash-p-
