On behalf of the Barnett family we thank all veterans, alive or the ones that gave all for our freedom. We pray for all the family and friends left behind and we thank you also for the sacrifices you have endured and made for all of us.

I fly out tomorrow to be in Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day! I've never been there but seen so many pictures and feel honored to be able to see it in person
and especially the Tomb of the Unknown!
It always hits me that the vast majority of those buried there were 18, 19 and 20 year old kids that gave their all and never experienced what we take for granted.
I can't even imagine what pain their parents and loved ones felt when they learned of the loss. It just breaks my heart and know how devastating it was for them.

A veteran walked into the c-store this morning as my brother and I were getting a cup of coffee, ice and fuel for our fishing trip. The self proclaimed vet asked the cashier for a discount on his purchase because of Memorial Day. The young cashier gave him a free soda. My brother (a veteran) made a comment to me on the way out of the store. I agreed that veterans deserve our gratitude. But I thought it was sad how neither the vet or the clerk fully understood Memorial Day.

The vet wasn't dead and this ain't Veteran's Day.

Great thing to do Okiebob...I have been there many times...the guard thing will raise the hair on your neck, bring a tear to your eye, pride to your heart, and dizziness to your head...if you get a chance, go to the Top of the Tower for dinner, I assume it is still operating...fantastic view after dark!
