I took the tubes out and use Rod Condoms can store more rods and the Rod Condoms have color codes so you have an easy time knowing which rod is which.

Sure would be nice if they offered a model with a reel cover attached to the condom. I didn't see anything like that...

I took the tubes out of my rod box and just use rod covers, I can fit another 6+ rods that way. The only lure I remove before storing is an a-rig. Me too. The tubes take up unnecessary space. Rod condoms keep em good and safe.

I have rod sox and reel covers on all my rods and reels. Sox only go on when they go in the lockers but the reel cover goes back on before it goes on the deck to swap to another one. I pay wayyyyyyy to much for reels to leave them open but that's also why I get so much money for them when I sell them and get different setups. My reels are always mint with 0 "boat rash".
Usually I only keep 4 on deck at a time.

I use to protect all my reels and rods as some of yall do. Great practice! Bbbuutttttt, for me the gears still [censored] out during the second year most of the time. I run mostly Pfluegers in the 120 or so range depending on sales and such. If you fish 3 times a week they wear out! Now I leave the rods and reels in the rod box with an organizer. Guess what? They dont last any less time. Do what works in your situation! Taking great care of your stuff, one will never go wrong!

You should quit buying junk reels. . .I have some reels that are 7 and 8 years old, get used 3 or 4 times a week, and have never had a gear issue. A little maintenance goes a long way.
