Yesterday on Alvarado, I dropped markers on a submerged road! Headed out to let the place settle, and came back several times to fish the spot. Low and behold someone ran off with my markers!!! Fish the spot, scan the spot to see whats there, Drop a few of your own markers, but why take'm! Must be mad that I boated 30+ lbs of BB to my name! great day until found the markers gone. Well........I guess you needed them more than me!

So you just left your markers on a spot, then left to another area of the lake. Then your upset cause someone picked them up, when no body was in the area?

Right is right & wrong is wrong. Taking something you know ain't yours is wrong...unless you truly believe you "found something lost". On the flip side: throwing out markers in an area you ain't actually ready to habitat: wrong also, in my judgement. Sorry it happened though.

Open water? I would be ticked if I ran over a bouy marker that I would not see and got it wound in my prop.

Why not just set Waypoints on your graph instead of buoys ?

#1 Not open water, If your running where the markers are well, they make all kinds of stupid!
#2 The practice of marking and coming back is a long standing practice. First time I saw it was on outdoor trails many many many moons ago, and still see guys doing all the time! Find the top ( 2 feet under) mark it let it settle and come back in 30-40min. Many people have been glad to use my markers to fish that road and hump. Most dont know its there! I share water freely, It aint mine! I'll post pics if I can of fish off that road.

With the advent of GPS mapping what exactly is the point of dropping markers out on a spot you don't plan on fishing right a way?

The old saying comes to mind "If it aint nailed down somebody's gonna steal it". Leave something in the bed of your truck at the ramp and you'll get the same result. This don't make it right but its just the way it is and for anyone to think any differently is just fooling yourself.

I would have taken them too, saved my prop and others from hitting them!

Ya fishkiller, I guess I expect most fisherman to conduct themselves differantly. I guess since I fish by myself, and I leave my boat unattended and out of sight some times for a while due to a wait loading and unloading I guess my boat is fair game too. And I guess the unmarked jug lines someone put out belong to me if no one is around? I guess respect is gone!

I myeslf run across unattended markers every week or two. Out of respect I stear clear. If someone wants to come in on mine thats fine, I am glad I could help! I guess the mentality that "You better not do anything that might infringe on Me" is alive and well today. When I started 40 +- years ago thats not how I was taught! Thanks for yall's schooling, its an eye opener!

So there biting on the road bed? Cool thanks, I'll check it out tomorrow when I'm out there.

(On a side note, if the road bed is fishing that good for you, you should come out tomorrow morning and fish the Cleburne Bass Club open team tournament out at Alvy. Win ya some money)

Deerslayer64d, I have waypoints set. The older unit I have puts you the area, and since its just off from a visual line of sight from shore, I drop a marker so I I am not guessing. And I'll state again, if anyone is running where these markers are, the other boats sitting and fishing the shore line will probably start throwing things at you, and wont help when the barbed wire thats laying ontop gets wound around your prop.

Yes KVS, they are. I was out till party boats showed up today, and 8 hours yesterday. Zoom Grubb, Pumpkin seed, with tail lightly dipped. I pulled 6 off the top in the morning, 1 lbs to 2.3lbs, and a 5lbs 7oz of the side around 4' deep! Don't mind sharing. 4-8 ft is the key with access to 10-16ft.

If its not yours leave it alone . You do not have the right to take something thats not yours . Its just like if u loose something off the back of your truck, thieves will grab it before you can turn around to get it . Same thing . If its not yours leave it alone . There plenty of folks that think if no ones is looking steal it. Its a shame they think this practice is ok but its wrong .
