I would like to donate a small pile of fishing equipment to a young fisherman or fisherwoman. I have 3 or 4 tackle boxes full of lures, lines , weights, etc. My eyesight is bad enough that I can't see well enough to tie lures on. I am hoping to give a youngster a start in fishing. Thanks for your suggestions.
Jim

I think I'd take that picture down of the undersized hybrid. Don't think it would even make 10". eeks
Cute kid. thumb

You may be right Shorty but I have to agree that one fish sure does look like a small hybrid. Has the broken lines and everything. The tooth patch is not always a fool proof way of identifying.

Sorry Jim,let's get on topic. My 7&9yo boys fish too and we have plenty of stuff in fact we may look to hand out some gear too. When we go fish,we offer worms, hooks, weights, corks etc to other kids we see while out fishing.(creek side/city parks) can't tell you how many times I've seen dads that don't know how to fish or have their kids setup with gear better suited for shark than any fish alive in that water. You don't want to be that weird guy handing out candy to kids, but if you went fishing and seen a worthy candidate for some of your supplies, boy that kid/family would have a story that could last a lifetime. Directly helping a youngster to possibly start his/her fishing career or keep them on the right path.
My friend was out fishing last year and seen some kids hunting up old string along the bank and making do with a stick pole. He shared his bait then gave them his pole. Said that $15 spinning combo he gave away meant a lot to the kids and he felt good about doing it. He didn't tell me until I told him about helping with setups for the shark gear kids.
Anyway,that's my sugestion.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I used to be a professional photographer and stopped one day to take some Little League shots. The cries of "Stranger Danger " still ring in my ears. I guess I will keep the boxes in my car and maybe approach a father/son combo instead of looking like the weirdo talking to the kids. Thanks to all, Jim

most yellow hybrids i caught look like an actual yellow just
way bigger and just to put this out there are some sandbass i caught that have
broken lines but have sandbasss toothpatch
nowadays its hard to tell with all the fish breeding together.
just be careful.

another way you can tell is actually by the eye
hybrids have like a catseye pupil its more slender
and not as round as sandbass. its a proven method to me.
