I dont use a leash in the surf. I do use a leash here because i like to just toss my paddle in the water. ^this

bothersome sometimes but it will save you a lot of hassle other times. its nice to b able to drop your paddle in the water and not worry about it.

No leash, but I probably should use one. I have a quick snap that holds my paddle.

Not usually but my paddle isn't my primary mode of motivation. Having the Hobie helps there. I have one. Used it most of the time in my previous kayaks. Just don't use it much anymore.

none for me, its easy enough to use your hands to paddle to the paddle, or have a spare paddle. Don't like how it gets in the way.

Yes on leash. Something I think we all need to consider when leashing is not to make them overly strong. Plastic clips are probably adequate for most of what we are trying to retain.

I use a piece of parachute cord about 8 foot long; if my paddle is in the way I chunk it out of the boat. My fly line gets tangled in the kinky leashes which is why I use the straight parachute cord; the one thing you cannot do without is your paddle; always have a leash-p-
