My wife and I were thinking about taking a trip to Lake of the Pines next week. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to stay and where to launch? I noticed a place called Lake of the Pines RV Park and marina that looks promising. Maybe someone has had an experience with this place. Many thanks.

lodging on the lake is pretty Motel 6ish. Lake of the Pines lodge has a few cabins that are ok and Johnson Creek Ramp is within a mile. Good little country restaurant across the street.

I agree, I took my wife and young daughter to that exact place earlier this year. Its not that bad, but it isn't anything nice. When you first pull up you will think the worst, but once you go inside one of them they are clean and well maintained. The good thing is that there are boat ramps right across the street and we ate at that restaurant several times.

It may depend on what your wife likes to do. Mine is pretty laid back, doesn't go shopping or things like that, so for us it was a good trip but for some people it may not be what they're looking for.

Marleys bullfrog marina in Johnsons creek has cabins on the edge of the water and a ramp. Tejas has a motel and ramp. The cafe has good home cooking at a decent price, and Jefferson is close.

My wife and I just returned from spending a week at Johnson Creek Park. Loved it. Was super clean and very reasonable. Great boat ramp. The spots for your RV are fairly small but have plenty room. They have a nice aluminum picnic table at the premium spots. If you can get spot E410 it has an excellent view of the lake and a couple of spots to bank fish from. Beautiful lake. You can reserve your spot online also. The ramp is inside the park and they lock the entrance gate at 10:00 PM. The little restaurant is pretty good also but make it a point to go to 5D Steakhouse in Avinger at least once. Great steak at very reasonable prices.

So, I assume that Johnson's Creek park is the one with cabins on the water? We don't have an RV and just need a room. Thanks.

Marleys is a nice place. Haven't used the ramp but of all the ramps I've used on Pines, Overlook is the better of them IMO.

Guys, many thanks for your help. We're looking forward to going. Bullfrog's Marina looks like our best bet.
