Hello,
Been fishing freshwater since I was a little fella but never fished saltwater before.

I'm heading down to Port Aransas with the family on a little vacation in late June. I'd like to get in some fishing.

I'd like to know a couple spots that might be active that time of year. Where I can buy bait. Any tips/tricks.

Plan is to get up early each day and fish until 8AM or so before the rest of the family wakes up:) Maybe some night fishing too if there is any to be had.

It's hard wading thru all the posts to find specifics, so I figured I'd just ask.

Seriously Hook n Map is not a bad place to start for wading locations. Its hard for waders to openly talk about their favorite places because crowds can ruin them and there are just not enough wading places to go around for folks without a boat.

Night fishing. Their is a lighted pier near charlies pasture. When coming off the ferry turn right immediately past the stripes on to Port Street follow it for about a half mile and you will see the pier on your right. My favorite place is Fin and Feather Bait on 361 between Aransas and Port A, if they have their lights on. You could call them during the day first to check. They charge a small fee.

I hope you get some more and better info

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

If you want to take a serious 'short cut' to some knowledge about some wade fishing spots here in the Coastal Bend, there is an easy route to take - complete with a Book and DVD and costs less than a 1/2 tank of gas. wink

Redfish action has been solid, weather patterns for consistant trout action will be here soon since this should be the last northern we have for awhile.

I would say try fish pass, it's right down the road from port A. If you have a vehicle with decent ground clearance, you drive all the way to the edge of the inlet facing Laguna Madre. You can wade all up and down that shoreline. Best to go very early. The water is pretty shallow, but the fish will retreat to deeper waters once the sun gets higher in the sky. Use live shrimp under a cork, fish bites, or a bone spook. tight lines!

There are lots' of options for wading... check out Google earth and sometimes it's a bit of an adventure but you can find a lot of wading locations from it. Stay on the hardpacked sand roads and don't go around puddles... at least they are packed down from years of use.

Port A outfitters is a pretty good place to get bait, and if I were you I would fish the jettie during the day and at night charlies pasture pier is pretty good...
