Howdy folks, My wife and I are coming up on our 1 year anniversary. We are looking for a place to stay that has cultural attractions(shops, wineries, etc),safe (but affordable)lodging, and(for my ulterior motive:),a fishing hole for one day out of three. To give you an idea:for our honeymoon,we stayed just out of Fredricksburg. So,if Fredricksburg had a lake adjacent that had big blues (in the middle of June,I know, not as likely),that would be perfect.I'm looking for your suggestions here.I thought about the coast.I thought about Arkansas or Oklahoma.I also thought about the Hill country again, adjacent to a lake.We are poor newlyweds and appreciate your advice;) Thanks folks, Studiostrat

Love Fredricksburg. We went to Galveston 2 weeks ago and had a blast. Has several tours you can take, shops but mainly tourist type stuff, Gaido's seaside inn is pretty decent place to stay and wont break the bank.

Before you make plans to go to the texas coast check the sea weed reports. It sure makes for hard fishing from land. Lakes are nice but we have a ton of them here. The coast would always be.my choice.

I appreciate the input, folks:)It looks like we are headed for Hot Springs Arkansas for two days. The coast sounds great, but,a little more gas money than we're willing to spend.Soooo.About my ulterior motive(it is fighting to live another day;):my idea is:two days in AR,last day fishing the Mississippi for catfish.Wife says,”Do whatever you want.”I somehow think that is not what she means;)Nevertheless,is this a good time to go?I'm thinking about Flattys and Blues.

Check condos around s padre next year. You would t regret it, water is bout the best your gonna get in Texas and surf/pier fishing is alot of fun. Not real sure on things to do in the city always take my kids and hit the state aquarium a d the museum.

Check out the Heart of Texas Resort on lake LBJ. It's got all you're looking for and the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!
