How are the crappie biting on Fork right now? With the weather being so odd this year not sure where to start depth wise and such, but my father, father in law, brother, and I are headed out this weekend and I'm hoping someone can help. I appreciate any tips you can give.

I havnt been to fork in quite a while , but i have been several times in that past. At all times of the year. What i have found to find the crappie out there , just hit the bridges. go from pillar to pillar adjusting the depth your dropping to and also the depth of water your in. pay attention to your electronics. look for anything out of the ordinary that might hold fish. by doing that you will stumble on some good fish. i have found the biggest crappie under the highway 154 bridge.

Good luck

Appreciate it; anyone else? Anyone been in the last week or so that have caught on to a pattern? Weather this year has killed my standard spots for this time of year.

I would hit timber in 10 to 20 ft. Focus on bois de arc trees. Fish 10 to 15 ft down. I would use constantpursuitoutfitters thump buddies in the fishing farmer( blue and chartreuse)

And if you don't remember all of this conversation or don't know what a dead bois de arc tree looks like...just make sure you remember the fishing farmer thump buddies!

I know how to identify them alive, but how do you identify them in the water?

they should have large tops and they weather well
they wont look like sticks like most of the timber
they are also called horse apple trees or an osage orange
favorites of the native americans for bow material
this is one of the ways they got here from Oklahoma
but I hear the bridges are good right about now as well
best of luck to ya thumb

Had good luck today at the 515 bridge. Caught crappie and catfish late in the day off pillars.

Very slow all day yesterday. Fished from 8 feet to 25. 13 fish in 8 hours with 4 anglers.
