Taking the family to the Galveston area. We are staying near San Luis Pass. Looking to get the kids a few fish. Don't really care what kind. Trout, Reds, shark or Black Drum would be the most preferred but it doesn't matter. My boys are crappie killers and we have a full freezer; I would like to give them a sample of some salt water action.

ANY TIPS AND OR METHODS?

Thanks in advance for the advise.

fish the bay behind slp or the surf, but whatever you do be careful. people drown at the pass every year. the currents on out going tides can be trecherous.

Not oppose to wading. Kids are 13 and 12 and very experienced fresh water anglers. Of course they will have life jackets. We were around SLP last year and saw a dad and kid get swept away. Wade fishing would be very cool. They've done inner tube fishing for crappie at the lakes near us.

There's always the jetties @ Surfside/Quintana or the piers in G'ton too. Like stated above, the surf should be on for a variety of species.
