Even if there aren't any Reds...this looks like its shaping up to be a perfect day. I'm in..my vote is fairfield.

Alright so as of right now it looks like just me and you K&C right? Anyone else want to go? I never had high hopes for the redfish anyways it will just be abonus if I do catch one. One was caught last weekend by a bass fisherman so they are still in there. All the bass being caught lately have looked pretty chunky so they seem to be doing fairly well even with a fish kill.

Yeah, I'm in for sure. I'll be bass fishing hoping for a Red. How much current is in the area where the discharge is? I've never fished this lake.

I'm looking forward to testing out my "stand-ability."

You're exactly right. I used to fish there a lot. I caught a few reds over 40". I caught more & larger reds there than I did when I lived in Florida! That all changed with several devastating fish kills. TPWD no longer stocks them. Also, just a heads up...lots of bass tourneys this time of year out there. The lake often will be shrouded in thick fog. You may consider taking your white nav light even if you're sticking to daylight hours

Dont think the air temps will be cool enough Saturday for a fog and the park doesnt open until 8 so the sun will be up nicely by then. But I guess it couldnt hurt thats for sure! I dont care if they are having a tournament out there or not. They could be doing that any warm water lake. I just want to get on the water and hope for some fish! These cold water metro lakes have been killing me lately with the lack of action so i've got to try something else!

Hey guys, hope everyone will take lots of pics of the lake, never been there and hoping to get up there some day. A few screenshots of the water temps, fish/bait, structure. GPS numbers optional. rolfmao

Unless it's changed, you can get in before 8. There is a drop box & envelopes for the $. Fill out the form on the envelope, tear off the copy to put on your dash. You may not care if there's a tourney, but I bet you will if every parking spot is taken and there are rigs parked along the road for a mile. No exaggerating, I've seen it that bad. No fun having 100 powerboats zipping around, especially in the fog. It really is an awesome lake. Keep an eye out for otters. Don't leave ANYTHING in your truck that might interest raccoons. There are some of the most brazen raccoons I've ever seen! Lots of deer in the park. If you like tilapia, take a cast net. It was easy to catch as many as I cared to clean. Have fun!

Thanks for the tips Lusca! Iv'e scoured around on here looking for any tournaments that might be taking place out there and have seen none so far. I think the recent fish kill shave turned alot of people off from the lake. I drive a car so I wont have to worry about coons unless they can figure out how to break into my car? Im kind of hoping I do see some otters! That would be pretty cool.

Good luck guys. It used to be a great lake for fishing, but as Lusca said, the kill-offs have devastated the lake. I don't think TPWD has even figured out why they have all these kill-offs

I've heard several good reports in the last few weeks and the honey hole guy didnt do too bad out there either when he went. Fish are still in there. It may not be as good as it once was but doesnt mean all the fish are dead and gone. Jsut means less people will be there lol. There is a small Telco bass club tourney going on tomorrow but from looking at their website it seems they only have about an average of 25 boats or so show up to each event. Shouldn't be bad!

Don't know if its any closer but I know lake Monticello in east Texas and a few others are power plant lakes. They should be much warmer than most lakes. I fished a couple winter tourneys on it with good results.

I know a couple spots around dfw that usually have warmer water but I've always been in my boat. Going to see if my Lew spots accessible by yak. I need my spot to come through for the Febuary tourney.

Forgot to type but Lucas is right. When we fished warm lakes early morning, its covered in thick fog. Most boaters go slow but there are always dumb *^^es going 75 in a 300hp ranger. BE CAREFUL!

If there does happen to be alot of fog Im sure we will stick close to the banks not far from the launch until it clears. But as of right now air temps are supposed to be 61 out there in the morning and last I heard water temps were around the same so that shouldnt creat too much fog. We will be careful though for sure! Im super careful on lakes anyways even on bright sunny days with miles of visibility. Powerboaters make me nervous in the yak lol
