Ive never been on that lake looks promising.its a 2 hour drive for me. Pencil me in, for now i'm waiting on a buddy to get back with me on fishing Saturday, if that doesn't play out ill give it a try.

Sweet! There is also an open invite going to Fork now. Im kinda torn but I think I want to stick to my warm water guns and hit Fairfield lol. No idea how you would target redfish. The got that caught one last weekend was using a crankbait but he said a whole school of them started surfacing around him. Im thinking he got lucky. Also my plan was to launch from the ramp at the state park (i think there is only 1 ramp) The website says they open at 8 so if I leave a little before 6 I should get there just in time!

Alright guys got a decision to make. Got several of the other guys going to Fork Saturday as well. Would y'all rather go to Fork with them or try our luck out at Fairfield?

I vote for your warmer waters. I want to get the skunk off.

The state park has two ramps. One close to the entrance and another in the back closer to the power plant. They are probably equal distance from the discharge. The first one might be closer but not much.

I think Fairfield is a good bet for getting some confidence with all this tough cold water... Then again, the guys at Fork may come back with the story of a lifetime...

It's been a couple years since I went to Fairfield. Interestingly enough, in 2-3 trips in the yak I never caught much actually in the discharge cove. I always caught bass in the reeds just south of the discharge on the west side though... If you're not getting bit use the yak to get way into the reeds and start flipping a brush hog... At times there are lots of fish in there that the PBers never get to...

I've never been to fork either. It's 2:15 drive for me there. Either or doesn't matter to me. I should know soon my schedule.

They were talking about a front moving in Saturday afternoon and possibly dropping some rain.

Alright well if you guys want to stick to Fairfield im right there with you! I've never really fished a warm water lake before so I want to give it a try.
The ramp I was wanting to launch from is the one right off state hwy rd p64. If you were to paddle northwest from there you would hit the hot water discharge cove, also supposedly a good spawning area with standgin timber immediately to left of the boat ramp. GPS 31*47.64N, 96*3.53W should be the boat ramp im talking about.

Forecast for Saturday for Fairfield according to my Scout Look fishing app. Early morning 60 degrees afternoon 66. Winds out of the south/southwest at 10mph. Looking like an awesome day if that holds up!!! Precip. 30% as of right now.

I wouldn't get your hopes to high on reds out there, last I heard they were having such bad problems with fish kills and then the power plant wouldn't fix what was causing the fish kills so TPWD stopped stocking the lake. I could be wrong though.
