So I have posted these pictures before and I always assumed that they were all big ole black drum. My neighbor saw the pictures and was completely convinced that one of them was a bull red. I didn't think so because it didn't have a distinguished black dot. It has some black marks on it, but assumed that it was normal for big uglies. So is there any distinguishing characteristics between big uglies and big reds? Help me prove my neighbor wrong wink

Big Uglies

Fish In Question

I still think it is a big black drum. Just maybe not as ugly as most. hahaha. Any expertise is appreaciated cheers

Barbels under the chin = black drum.

I've read that they cross breed though.

Redfish don't necessarily have black spots, although most do.

Your fish is definitely a black drum like Parker said.

Here is a couple of big nasty bulls we caught while looking for big Trout during the winter. Both were caught on Corky's and both were released.

Dang!

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn

And man just fishing off my families dock in Sargent, Tx. Fishing into the ICW directly across from the public boat launch. Plenty of area to cast out a line from the launch side. cheers
