I have two Power Poles on my boat. The reason I went with them was because they are hydraulic and in my opinion look better. I thought the Talons looked like gutters on the back of your boat and I was not a fan of the electric deploy. Hydraulics is proven technology and I felt would hold better.

It is a new product and with any new product you will have issues to work through. Minnkota has one of the best customer service departments around. I have had a Talon for a year and it is a great tool. As soon I found out that they made a new bracket that did not bounce around, I called them and they sent it to me for free. They sent it to me before I sent the old one back. I also had a problem with the unit and they sent me a new one with no questions asked. Again they sent me the talon before I sent the old one back. It took me 10 minutes to change the bracket and 15 minutes to change the Talon. I feel Minnkota will continue to improve this unit and will make new fetures to make it even more user friendly.

In the morning be first up, and in the evening last to go to bed, for they that sleep catch no fish.

Minnkota I feel Minnkota will continue to improve this unit and will make new fetures to make it user friendly. And this is why I can't believe they came out with such a poor product. It has to be a black eye to them and thier company name. I have ran MK Trolling Motors for years, A MG was a POS compare to a MK. I just wish they did more product development before they rushed a faulty product to market.....

The question was ""I was looking at a talon. Any info from owners or anyone with knowledge about them." So do you own a Talon ? If not, why are you in this thread ?

The folks posting that Talon has problems with brackets is living in ancient history. The Talon is a good unit. I don't have either yet but have fished with both. Talon has a new release bracket that is going to be real nice. If I put two PPs on my boat I will lose most all my storage in the back with pumps.
Still up in the air but busting on Talon is unwarranted today. It is a great unit.

I am in this thread to save you a headache. Get the PP. Talons are good but they are not PP. Period.

Wished people would use the search feature of the Internet. Same questions are asked over and over. Talon vs Power-Pole, HummingBird vs Lowrance, Ford vs Chevy deal. Do your research and buy what you can afford and what makes you happy.
