I fished rayburn and the school paid me back for the gas my drunk drank down there and back plus they picked up the hotel bill. Then flw cut me a check for fifty or so, so I actually got paid to go fishing lol. Turned out good.

I have fished different college tournaments for going on 4 years now and i assure you that there is plenty of competition. Regarding FLW, they run a good event. They do provide boats which get mixed reviews. I personally would rather use my own but some college anglers dont have access to a boat. They do pay out alot more than other circuits too. If you ever have any questions, feel free to PM me. Ive been college fishing for a while now.

Hey Spencer,

FLW is the best money wise, but its got screwy rules and you have to draw for a boat to use. That's usually not a problem, but your success can be affected by the boat you draw.

The boatUS championship is a blast, and very well run. A few college clubs have started hosting their own tournaments as well.

As for the competition, the weights are often deceiving. Tournament scheduling is at the mercy of school, which means you get tournaments on Rayburn in the middle of December during winter break. Or, right after the spawn completely ends on Lake Tyler. Or, the hottest part of the summer on Lake Lewisville or the Arkansas River. Im not complaining, but a lot of these tournaments are on bodies of water that are difficult when the fishing is good, much less when its tough. The difficulty of the locations is part of the fun.

Most guys cant afford to skip weeks of school to practice for these tournaments either. Like Bassaholic said, a handful of guys are always near the top, but its not uncommon for a lesser known team to come in and win one.

If you have any questions feel free to message me.

I know they do. My brother was center for OU for 2 years and he and his teammates received a 42' flat screen and a rolex watch for going to bowl games. So its the same as a truck or a boat

FLW is pretty well ran trail. They have the best payouts. And yes some of these guys that fish for their schools actually get there money for their club and then they have access to use their club money. So they get paid. FLW basically took over when other trails had to cut back because of the lack of sponsorship. (Yes collegebass has added a few more events.) FLW is basically government backed and has 100 times more money into it. The rules need a little adjusting but that's just what I think. Make sure you read the rules and use them to your advantage. Good luck.
