I havent had that happen but i went took my second guided trip to fork last year, we were on the way home i was riding shotgun sleeping and i was dreaming about the trip and fishing. I kept dreaming i was getting a bite and i kept waking up cause i would throw my hands up in the air as to set the hook. I swear i almost gave myself a fat lip on one of those fake hook sets! smile My dad still laughs and tells people about it. That is the first time i've ever suffered withdraws from fishing!

i've had plenty of those horrid dreams where the bobber goes down over and over and over again, but there's no fish to reel in...it just keeps going under, and then nothing...

Getting ready to head out to LL and try some bank fishing at Little Elm park.

LOL.......that's too funny. My wife and I have both admitted to seeing that bobber go under all night long after a really good day of bobber fishing.

Well, just got back from fishing Little Elm park on LL.

Been a bass fisherman for years, and this was the first time I've fished for Crappie.

Was throwing mostly Southern Pro Crappie Stingers (various colors) on 1/16 oz. white head jigs and with white roadrunners.

Started by suspending the jigs with a slip bobber, until I realized that the jig wasn't heavy enough to cause the slip bobber to go vertical, so it was pretty hard to tell if I was sitting on the bottom or not. Guess I need a lighter slip bobber or maybe a weighted one?

Tied into only one crappie, but made the mistake of trying to lift him out of the water and snapped the 6lb. test I was using.

Lost half a dozen jigs on stickups, etc.

So, even though I didn't catch anything, I can chalk it up to a good learning experience - that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! wink

Put a small splitshot above you jig for the extra weight and I learned from the ernest patty video( I can send you the link for this great video) to get a heavy couple ounce sinker probably and run a paper clip through and the other end of the clip around the line, let it run down and jiggle your jig loose. Saved me quite a few so far

Good suggestion; will give that a try.

Would like to see the video too.

Thanks!

If your fishing a tournament only set the hook if the bobber is gone at least 2ft underwater...LOL
I seem to always catch the fish once the bobber is leaving or left your visablilty All depending on water color.
But you must know your fishing above the fish So norm if there is a bobber on my line its only 1ft deep or 2 max.

If I fish in high wind or an eddy in a tail-race I will be throwing a slip cork with at least 3/4oz. of lead.

I never use a weighted cork because it will not tell the truth about the bottom..

And I too set the hook if the cork does anything I don't make it do.... Hook sets are free and don.t need to rip the lips out!!!!!!!!

Thanks j, yeah, this is exactly what I need! Fishing with an experienced Crappie fisherman would really help a ton.
