I really enjoy fishing whenever I can spare the time, but my partner seems to hate the idea of me doing it and thinks its a waste of time (which could be spent with her instead she claims). Does anyone else ever get this from their partners as well? If any of you guys do, I could really use some advice.

Well, we've been together for a year, and she's never liked this hobby of mine. Fishing helps me relax and destress but she thinks there are other ways to destress instead of spending the whole day out and uncontactable. Recently, I've been pretty stressed out at work and last weekend decided to go on a day trip with my buds to finally catch a breather.

Honestly, bad things seem to all stack up together - went out, faced bad weather, cell service got cut, got stuck out and only made it back 4 hours after the supposed time. Finally came back in service to face my extremely upset partner who kind of went on a panic mode because she couldn't contact me for that entire period (she was already in a foul mood to begin with), and in that moment decides she needs a break from this relationship. I thought she was just being fiesty at that point, but turns out she may have been serious because now she won't respond to my texts or calls.

Any advice on what to do now? I do really love her so 'just giving up and walking away' isn't a valid plan despite her being against my hobby.

Run and don't look back. Crazy only gets crazier with age, shared assets, shared bank accounts, children.

Seriously, it's one thing to have a wife who is just not interested in your hobbies (like fishing). But it's altogether different when she is opposed to them.

This isn�t about your hobby. It is about control of your life. Walk away now rather than later.

If she is against you doing what you enjoy that much, it will never cure itself. Time to cut the losses now and wish her well.

I've never heard a girlfriend referred to as a "partner." Your partner sounds incredibly insecure. Clingy, insecure people don't typically make a good partner.

If you really love to fish, and she doesn't want you to, are you willing to give it up if you take the next step.
