Personally, I like the phrase "new state record" instead of Sharelunker. I think I'll start using that for my 8's.

But seriously, when did fishing become such a heated topic? It is approaching the level of conversational risk as is race, religion and politics. Stop complicating a simple and relaxing pastime with worries about what others are doing if it doesn't affect you.

Do we get that bent out of shape when a pro sets a hook on a 2 pounder and screams out "biggun'..? It is just not that big a deal in the scheme of life...

When it became available to do so from behind a keyboard!

I guess that is true...

Asking people to report on 8lbers will jump the number of data point into the many thousands the first year alone. That information will eventually benefit all fishermen.

Someone paid attention in school... bullseye here..

Maybe everyone should start fishing and stop worrying about what someone else calls a fish. I could care less. The only thing that another me is when people don't really contribute on the forum and only come on trying to get people to click on videos so they can make money. Isn't there a section that the videos belong in anyway?

You people who interject this thread with "snowflake" or "millennial" should be ashamed of yourself.

You ignore the very reason the program was put forth in the first place.

To CAPTURE data, that's it! But some of you old goofs had to reduce "SAL" to size and not pay attention to the very cause of the program.

Some of you get off on this banter whether positive or negative. Someone needs to create
a poll and let's see what happens.

This thread is gold. Unreal how many opinions take exception to others having an opinion. Keep this going.

No sir. Carry on.

No disrespect meant with that to anyone but times as well as fisheries and it's fish change.

That's what I meant but I wouldn't be surprised if veterans of Texas waters get offended. It's hard to accept change when it's all that has been known with regard to Sharelunkers.

You reckon they take this Data to determine what lakes have more potential to grow 8lb fish and/or take the same data and use it to examine their results from previous stocking? I think so! Seems like smart thinking to get FREE DATA and it helps the state with their stocking program

It's funny how everyone calls it not a real share a lunker under 13. The program is to make healthier fish for our state, and yet you guys have gotten so bent about the smaller fish being a share a lunker you have become exactly what you're complaining about. If you want the names changed then you need a safe space whiny closet for that petty of a problem. A big fish is a big fish.
