something i noticed in your pictures. that motor looks crooked. measure the jack plate and make sure it's straight. I've noticed that myself, and have double checked measurements... But I assumed it was a optical illusion?

Besides the "obvious" pressure washing off the existing grease, how else does one need to disassemble to get that out of there? Get that dang grease off those steering cables!!! Worst stuff you can put on them, clean them out and use penetrating oil, lithium or silicone, never grease, it'll pack up and freeze them solid.

I use carb cleaner to clean that nasty [censored] off of cables. It's going to take a lot, you've got years of gunk built up, then use penetrating oil and keep working it until it's smooth and free.

Just what's visible on the shafts? Or do I need to remove the nuts to get inside?
