I just bought my first kayak from bass pro a couple days ago. When I got it home I notice there was a small "slice" in the side of it along the seam. I'm taking it back tomorrow to exchange it for a new one, but now I'm starting to second guess it. Should I go with the same kayak or should I go for the ascend 128t. Is the 128t higher quality? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The 128t is wider and in my opinion, more difficult to paddle. It is also heavier so keep that in mind when transporting, dragging or portaging. They are both good kayaks, just a little different features from one to the other. The seat rotates on the 128 and it has bigger hatches. Just depends on what you want to do with it as to which direction you want to go.

I have the FS128T.

Like Payne said, it's heavier and takes a little more work to get moving, but it's a lot more stable for standing (if you're actually going to be standing).

When I first bought my fs12t, I also didn't know which way to go. After having yakked my fs12 for about a yr n a half, I'm glad I didn't get the bigger tank fs128t, loading and unloading wise and for handling. Great yak for the money. Got mine when it sold for 550$, I think they went up in price.

I have had the FS12t since last year and I love it. I also wondered at times if I would like the FS128t better. Weight has been the only thing keeping me from buying a 128t and selling my 12. I went on a two night Trip on the Colorado River and my 12 had plenty of room for my camping and fishing gear.

I weigh only 170 lbs and am 55 years old with a bad back that has had surgery and i can handle my FS128T easily. It is not heavy at 95 lbs when empty. Very hard to transport full. You will need a strong dolly for trips to the water where you cannot launch directly from your vehicle.
Other than that, I have slept laying down in mine on overnight trips at times. I stand up all the time and the chair is comfortable already but I use a pillow to sit on and prop my back up a bit.
Feels like a Cadillac to me at times but it rides smooth. Just big!

I gotta agree with you that my FS128t isn't much of a problem at all when it comes to loading and unloading. A constant complaint is the weight, but it's very well distributed in this yak, but o well to each his own.
