I fished a city park pond for trout Thursday afternoon and Christmas morning. The pond had been stocked with a thousand fish Tuesday. I had checked Wednesday morning and the report was not many fish were being caught. Thursday was pretty much the same. 4 trout total were caught while I was there 3 PM - 5:45 PM. As it got dark trout started rising to the surface. The closest I came to catchinge one was a trout hit my orange and yellow strike indicator. Fishing Friday 10 am - 12:30 nobody caught any.
I thought maybe the weather/water was too warm so Saturday I decided to hit a pond and do some fishing for bass/sunfish. It was really windy but one corner of the pond that was open to fishing (pond bank is part in park and part private property) was sheltered some form the wind.
It paid off as I caught this 11" bass
And this 10" one
Both fish were caught on a size 10 beadhead woolly bugger in black/orange. That fly pattern has been my most consistent fly for catching.
Now that the front has hit and the temperature has dropped I am going to hit the trout pond up after work in a day or two.
