A little south towards McKinney, I know in 06 there was a 12lb bass pulled out of there. Curious to know how is the fishing for LMB down there nowadays.

TIGHT LINES!

I took my kids there this past weekend and saw probably 25+ lmb sitting on beds. biggest looked to be anywhere from 6 to 8#, nice for that little lake. It gets heavy pressure, but I'm sure there are some decent ones in there. I bet you could tear it up in a yak.

Too bad you can't fish from a yak in there. I've asked... You can fish from the bank only. You can put a kayak in it, but you can't fish from it.

I was there a week or so back and saw a lot of bass on beds, too. And I saw some really nice ones. I want to go by there Monday morning and see what I can do. Fishing gets tough when the vegetation takes over there or it did for me last year. I like fishing out there lots of bank to fish as well. I have taken my kids there before and they caught a ton of bluegills and sunfish with a few bullheads mixed in at that little pier and along the brick wall east of the paddle boats in the summer time.

Did ok in the fall out there when the vegetation died back. Here's one I got Oct. 27 last year.

Fished it for about 2-3 hours there are some big bass in there. Did not see them on beds but seen some big ones swim by. Lots of gar and carp swimming around as well. Only down fall is there is a lot of garbage in the water or around the water. Seen many big dead turtles and many injured ducks. I did not have any luck but if anyone else catches anything please post I can see this place holding some fat bass!

Fished there yesterday for a bit, caught 3 most of them were on their beds. They ranged from 13 to 15 inches. Saw some huge carps in there tho, you can see them swim by if you stand by the swan boats and if the sun is right.

If nothing gets in the way I will be out there on Monday. I'll see what I can do.

Who told you about that? My concern was putting the yak in. They can restrict watercraft but not fishing I would think. Might have to call the city and see now. I'll let you know what I find out.

Let us know what they say and if its no, then ask why. I'm curious to know the reason.

Yes, there is a city restriction that you cannot fish from a boat (or kayak) on Towne Lake. I can't find the actual rule now but I know it's been posted before either here or on the kayak forum and I believe it applies to any McKinney city lake. I assume it is to prevent conflict between bankers and boaters and on that small of a lake IMO, that is probably reasonable. I know there have been yakkers out there who have been told they cannot fish.

RedSox - I already contacted the City of McKinney Park and Rec. That is what they told me... Some old city ordinance that was never asked to be changed.
