Fished Naconiche without a sniff in the most beautiful looking spawning areas you could ever imagine. Looked like a ready made stake bed for about an acre in 3-6FOW. Moved out into one of the main creek and found some shallow water in the BIG trees. Almost all fish caught came off of trees that were at least a foot in diameter. I'm guessing they were nesting in the bigger root system. Just couldn't find any more places that would replicate the pattern. Only caught one female. She's the largest in the pick. Getting torn up by LOTS of bluegill. They'd pop and pop that tail of the slab bandit. Next time I'm bringing some tiny hooks. Water temp was 65 degrees. I had my cork set about a foot above my jig.

Water was like glass.

Jacob...you don't know me but I enjoyed reading your posts. I haven't been chasing those crappies lately but soon I'll be feeling the thump! I've been chasing whites/hybrids. Nice report and thank you. I see they are moving shallow now.

They are actually spawning down here in the San Antonio area! They are also spawning at Choke Canyon. Catching em in 1 to 2 feet of water! Jigs and minnows are working very well. cheers

No, I don't. I need some tiny jig heads! I could tear them up with just nibbles! It got where I wouldn't even set the hook unles the cork stayed under for a two count.

Started to come out to Naconiche today but once again let the weatherman talk me out of it. When will I ever learn they lie worse than politicians. I got into the bluegill last time out there and caught a few really nice ones. You must still be on spring break. Good lookin crappie. I bet they turn on in the next week or so.

roflmao roflmao I`ve had that exact same thing happened to me before @ NM Crappie point tap tap tap and nothing. The bobber never stay down long enough until I change to 1/32oz then I caught blue gill & Crappie. The only drawback was when crappie would bite ,I would have to use the forceps to get my jig back cause the crappie mouth so big they swallowed it
