I was bumping around reading and noticed that 50th bass caught in Texas is 15.32. In that top 50 13 came in Feb and 14 came in March, My question or questions are, What lake or lakes do you see the next top 50 bass coming from or do you think Texas will even produce a fish over 15lbs?
I personally think we will but it may be a while in a lot of the lakes that have produced them with the drought. I guess right now I would say Toledo bend may be the lake to do it, followed by fork, falcon and Austin but I bet that window may be slipping with the loss of the grass in Austin, if I had to pick a wildcard lake to produce one I would say LBJ, it just seems it has a lot of what it takes to grow one.

I definently think we will see some more 15 pound fish. Along with the drought lakes go in cycles it seems. Some lakes like Fork will probably always have a decent shot. The next one could come out of some little city lake, you really never know. I would agree with Toledo. I think there are alot more huge bass in there that don't get caught. With the size lake and the fact that big fish didn't get big by being stupid I would say it would be tough at times. If I had to pick a wildcard it would be Pines.

A lot of people pass on small lakes to go fish big lake for big fish. Sure they're there but they're in small lakes too. Ive fished lakes like holbrook, bonham, Athens and even as small as Mill Creek (Canton City) and caught double digits. IMO theres at least one 15# in every one of those!

Both those were caught off a small lake near Atlanta, they were caught 2 casts apart, by far my best day on the lake.

I think you're nuts if you don't think Fork/TB/etc have a 15-lb bass in them. The question is when it (or they) will get caught. Who knows...
I don't think there's a bunch of them. If there was a bunch of them in Fork, you'd see more get caught. So I do think they're every bit as rare as we imagine they are. But they're there.
I doubt most small lakes have a fish that big. Just my personal opinion. 8-10 lbs, sure. 10-12 lbs, maybe. 14+, unlikely. And even if they did, the odds of it getting caught are slim.

In February of 2013 there was a sharelunker that weighed 16.04 released back into Fork, if it's still alive I wonder what it weighs now?
