Wallhawk84 invited me out to hit Ray Hubbard today and try and chase the kitties and John Paul Jones park today! We loaded the yaks and set out hoping to avoid the wind a little bit but I was wrong!! With the little experience I have, I struggled most of the time getting my yak to sit put without having an anchor and drifted countless times into the trees and away from Wallhawk84 further and further!! lol. On top of that, I thought I would never make it back to shore. Talking about arms being sore!! I really need to get this yaking down. I have yet to put any good amount of fish in it. Overhaul I really enjoyed being on the lake with real good dude! I look forward to future yak trips and some of you other guys as well. Thanks man for the invite and next time we will get them.

The wind can be pretty brutal, but it looked like you were in a good boat for it. Way to stick it out, and test your limits!

That wind definitely wasn't a joke, I was fishing in the Marina and it was still brutal. Always better than sitting at home.

Sounds to me like you did just fine with the gusts up to 40mph. Definitely be safe out there.

I imagine that 40 MPH gusts on Ray Hubbard is kind like being out at sea.

From those pics, you definitely had some wind on you. Personally, I don't mind the cold as much as I do excessive wind so kudos to you for sticking it out. Other options besides anchors if you are in the stick-ups is tying off the stick-ups....best to do with something that is shock corded and position yourself so you don't have a chance of riding up on a stump and being left high and dry to tump over. If in open water, sometimes a drift chute can slow you enough to make fishing possible while still having enough give to not take on waves at full force. But as already said, better than being on the couch - very few fish have been caught from the living room.
