I broke about the last 1.5" of my 8 wt the other day. It's a cheap starter rod from Bass Pro and they don't have a lifetime warranty like TFO. But, it was my first fly rod and actually throws really well. So, I wanted to repair it. I figured since I only lost 1.5", it shouldn't effect the rod performance too much. We'll see...

I sanded the tip smooth and then had to sand down about an inch from the end to get it narrow enough for the tip to slide back on it. There is a lot of taper on this rod so I wasn't able to get it seated very far in - maybe only .125". I superglued it on and then thread wrapped the joint. I hope it works....

Looks like you did a good job. My buddy broke the tip on one of his recently and the did a pretty good job repairing it too. I have yet to break my fly rod but I only buy cheap spinning rods because I break them very often.

I did repair and replace rod tip on 5 of my rods. I use epoxy, not super glue. Super glue will not last that long.
