This fishing tournament is a charity event to raise money for the Disciples Crossing Campgrounds near Athens, TX. There are two small lakes (7 and 9 acres) within walking distance of the parking lot/road and of each other. It is shore fishing only, however there are several canoes onsite available to rent by the hour. Some of the sponsors include G Loomis, Shimano, and Abu Garcia.

Basically, the campground is a retreat center and children's campground in a fairly large, beautiful wooded area. They need to make several improvements to continue to grow the ministry and since they have a couple of lakes full of bass and bluegill they decided to hold a tournament as part of its fund raising efforts. Much of the two lakes can be reached by shore...however there are canoes that can be rented on site at an hourly rate. No personal watercraft of any type may be brought to the location.

The tourney itself is catch and release. Fish are measured by the inch, entered on a log that another fisherman or volunteer must initial, then immediately returned to the water. All fish species count. There are some awards for longest fish, most fish, shortest fish, and total inches of fish (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

Cost is $30 for an all-day fishing pass (9am to 6pm). 3 hour blocks can also be purchased for $15.
