I went for a test run in what was to be my next boat. Trolling motor problem.
It's a 2010 Minn Kota 80# rip tide. Here the problem.

If you use the trolling motor at 40% or higher for more than 30second burst,
It quits. Wait about 30-45 seconds and turn the power down. It will start right back up.

The owner said it has always performed like that. That's no good to me.

More info:,24 volt and the boat is a Nautic Star.

Any help out there?
Thank you in advance.

check to see if you have the correct size wiring from battery to motor. call or take it to gulf coast trolling motor at FTU for a evaluation(free). oops--sorry, didn't see that you're in Tyler. find a MK dealer up there and ask em about the wire.

What size breaker do you have near the batteries?

Auto reset circuit breaker is tripping. It will auto reset after it cools off. Verify your wire size is correct for the current you're pulling through it, if so, up the size of the circuit breaker.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Get you a 50amp circuit breaker to replace the faulty ones

Either you have a automatic resetting breaker, the wire size is too small, or there is a bad connection that is heating and cooling -- or a combination of all three. Start by making sure the wire is of adequate size for the trolling motor. I'm in Texarkana, if you want to call
