I'm gearing up for some catfishing. Does anyone know if jugs (or the noodles) have to be white?

Yes

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Jugs have to be white and labeled with your name and address. 5 hooks are the max per jug. If catch them good on rod and reel just one time, you will throw those jugs away. I sure did.

Might check the new regs from TPWD. I thought I read recently that they changed it to any color. Only commercial are still orange. Don't know if it's in effect yet though.

I am unable to find the updates. Also under legal devices, it says that cast nets have to under 14'. I thought the state limit was 7'?

Currently your jugs still have to be white. There is a new long over due reg/rules change proposed to allow any color for personal jugs except orange as orange is designated for commercial use only. The change is open for public comment until late March. If adopted it would not go into effect until this fall.
