 White bass on Joe pool lake?

I am new to white bass and crappie fishing on Joe pool. Does anyone have any tips on where to go for either species and what to throw. I am a old large mouth guy and my son is wanting to learn about sand bass and crappie so of coarse dad has to learn so I look like I know what I am talking about. Any help would be appreciated.
