Got out about 9:30 with my daughter and hit the bank at Babtist Point and started catching. They slowed down from last Fri., but there none the less. Probably caught about 20, 1/2 keepers, when I tried to find a slab bite. My poor daughter only caught one fish of the bank.Fished what I thought were good markings but no takers. I went back to the point after she decided to have mom picked her up, and hooked another 10-15 before I had to go. The seemed to really hang around shadows. Definatly slower than a slab bite, but enough action to keep me happy!

Karl, are they usually shallow this time of year? Seems like I remember us stabbing them deep when we went a while ago.

I will jump in Jim. They are shallow when we have the fall shad hatch. The thing that is different this year there are up shallow about two or three times as long as they normally are. Sorry about the hijack Karl. But what is a hijack among friends.

like Johnny said in the fall they are shallow for a bit. I am wondering if they are not trying to spawn. Had a few with eggs and man stuff.

That's what I was wondering. We had a few males spewing stuff but the 50 fish we cleaned, none had eggs.

Happens every year. I always find a few that that are thinking about love in the fall. I don't know if anything really happens but I don't think so.

Thanks Johnny. That all makes sense. Maybe I'll find time to go when baseball winds down.
