I am no longer mobile enough to fish from the shore. But when I did I had good fishing when I fished tree lined banks at Cleburne Lake.

I would fish among the roots of the trees where the water had eroded the bank, leaving a lot of tree roots in the water. I would moor my boat at the bank and walk along the bank, fishing all the exposed roots.

I caught some of my biggest crappie fishing the tree lined banks there.

a deep water creek would be a good place to look
look for something out in the water
fish it with a float and your choice of baits
walk the bank if you don't get bit
to remain very mobile just carry a stringer and a bottle of crappie nibbles with lots of floats and jigs
best of luck to ya ...

That brings up a memory there Ketchn.
My Info isnt near you but an idea.
We'd night fish Granger lake in January just off the main lake on the San Gabriel at a steep inside bend. Water was 8' along the bank and 12-16' not far out. A lot of Christmas trees were tied onto roots along that bank and could catch a bunch just after sun down. Early and late daytime were also good.

Main point I'm making is,find where you want to fish and fish are known, and maybe add a brush pile or something. It doesn't take long for fish to move in. Could become your secret honey hole.

Good luck and fishing

Yes, Carey guide crappie trips too (I believe after Thanksgiving). Anyone in Flower Mound/Lewisville would like to book him with me together? It's $175 for two people.
