The wife wants me to pick some furniture up from the Conroe area this Saturday. I said sure as long as I get a fishing trip out of it.

Is the fm 830 launch still useable?
I am decent at finding fish and catching them on Hubbard. I have never fished Conroe. I will be there on Saturday trying to find them. Any help on where to look and tips on eliminating some dead water would be greatly appreciated.

Coachzee, I dont hear much about sandies or hybrids on Conroe when I lived in Houston or even now. They dont thrive on that lake for some reason....but the catfish there is good I heard. Good luck!

I agree with Todd - not a good fishing lake. Better to swing by Lake Livingston - a great fishing lake.

There are hybrids on Conroe and some of good quality. All I can tell you is look for humps or around that island or dam with shad. They are pretty hard to find. The white bass population isn't huge and I have only caught a few on the lake in my 10 years of fishing it. Livingston is a much better choice if your looking for sandies.

I don't do much fresh water fishing any more, but Conroe has a decent population of whites, and some huge largemouths. It's not hard to find whites; just use your sonar to find structure and look for bait. If you can find them on Ray Hubbard you can find them on Conroe. The fish are there.....

Well boys, I hear ya of fishing livingston instead of Conroe. But due to time constraints and location wise, I am gonna hit Conroe in the am. I will give everyone a full report on the whites/hybrids. If it ends up being a total waste after 2-3 hours I may switch up to green fishing.

Our best spot recently has been behind the island in a 35 ' ridge that has sharp dropoffs. Deadsticking sassy shads or if that wasnt working jigging 1 oz. Chrome slabs.
