Has anyone hiked on o the three trails down. If so what one did you decend and can I get a good day of wade fishing once I get down. Or is it very hard to move up and down stream. What is the easiest to hike down I coul probably ski down them but my girlfriend is a different story lol. I wish I could convince her to do somthing else a day so I could cover alot of ground. Thanks for any imput.

Are you talking about the Black Canyon in Colorado? If so, then North Rim or South Rim?
North: SOB is typically the "beginner" trail and gives you a couple miles of river access. This will probably be your best bet. Slide is steep, so I would avoid that one. Long is in between, but only gives you a very short stretch of river access.
South: Gunnison is like SOB. Typically the "beginner" trial. River access is small like Long, though Tomichi is steep and difficult. Avoid it Warner is very long and is a multi-day. Avoid it
There is another south trail, but I think it's limited access. There are also some east routes, but I don't know anything about them.
As for wading, I would avoid it. The water is always cold (50F or less) and often very swift. The rocks are pretty slick as well. If you're well-seasoned to that sort of river, then you could probably make due just fine.

Robert, I hiked in on the Bobcat trail in the Gunnison Gorge. It was years ago when I was in shape & doing triathlons once-a-month. Take a water filter/purifier. I became severly dehydrated because I under-estimated the amount of water I needed for the hike.
It is beautiful country. It is well worth the hike in & out if you plan well. The air is extremely dry & you don't realize how much water your body loses and how much faster it happens in those conditions.
There was a fellow there camping at the rim of the gorge, and he warned me that I didn't have enough water. He had been there several days, and he said that he would take his water filter & fill his bottles before the hike out. I was green, and I paid dearly for it.
Have fun on your trip. That whole area is awesome. The stream that runs through Montrose, the Uncompahre River, is good fishing, too.
