I have a minn kota 80# maxxum pro. It works fine on high OUT of the water, But as soon as its under a load in the water only on high its starts surging & cuting on & off. Ive had a circuit board replaced in my foot pedal about 3 months ago & now its started back. Please help if you have can! Thanks alot!!

I have a motor guide that did that because there was water in the motor and had to replace it. Sounds like your problem as well.

Sounds like your breakers maybe going out. Or, it could be that circuit board again.

All new breakers on battery. If it is the circuit board again I wonder why its burning it up? Thanks

Had a PowerDrive V2 that would not turn until I took my foot off the pedal and reduced the speed...then it would turn. I noticed that it happened when the trolling motor was running down. also noticed that the trolling motor battery was losing power pretty fast. Replaced trolling motor battery and it fixed all of my problems.

Mine did that last year, what was happening, on low power it didn't require alot of voltage, as soon as I increased power it started this on and off again. Replaced the in line breaker (30/50amp can't remember) and this solved the problem.

If all else fails, check your plug. The female part of my plug failed and caused mine to do the same thing.

Ok thanks for the reply, I will check all these things out & dig deeper into the problem, I have 50amp breakers at the battery. Minn kota calls for a 60amp , but has never been a issue there. Both my batteries are good & fully charged. Put test light at plug and shows rights amps. But I will start with the small things.

Found the problem, Took lower unit apart, Pulled armature out & all. Main Ground wire was split in half & grounding out. Put in new wire & went for test run, Worked like new again! Thanks for the help folks.
