Hello Gents
My dad turns 80 this year and he has always wanted to fish for cats on Tawakoni. Can anyone tell me what part of the lake would be best to take him, any sugestions on a hotel. We fish caddo lake and the Red River mostly.I want him to have a good fishing exsperience with this fishing trip.I want hime to be able to go while he still is able. Thanks everyone and TFF

I'd suggest for such a momentous occasion you hire one of the guides on the lake. There's a ton of them for you to choose from.

Start in the area of the dam, very good drifting there... Try shoe string for a place to stay or anchor inn... Shoe string is closer to the dam
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Take him over by the dam the riprock there holds a lot of cats. Also the timber on the northern part of the lake hold a lot of cats as well.
Get a good quality punch bait and fish it until you hit your limit!

Yeah get ya a guide, especially with a gentleman that old, I don't want to assume anything, but if he's that old he may need some special assistance.
Also that way you can focus on spending good time with him instead of fiddling with boats and bait and what not.
I've only gone with the Littlejohn's, had a great time. However, I've heard great things about all of them.

shoe string for a place to stay
I'm there the whole first week of may. Hoping blues are still around. If not, then stripers, channels, and crappie
