I have 12 volt hand. Control Min~Kota, it has 5 speeds forward and 3 speeds reverse, I had one of the bushings call out about 6 weeks ago which I put back in but I tore the hole thing down to find out that was the problem, every since then the reverse makes it go forward and the forward reveres, could I have put the bushing in wrong or is it something I did in the gear box on top?

Did you take your prop off when you took it apart?

Make sure you didn't reverse connections.

Yes, I did when I took out the motor so I could put in the bushing that came out.

I don't think I reversed the connections. I never knew how strong the magnet was on these things until I pulled out the motor.

Bushings have nothing to do with rotation. You have reversed the positive and negative wires, either on the switch or at the battery.

You put the magnet in backwards.

I belive the magnets are glued to the case, and only the armature can be removed without a stick of dynamite. Of course the armature could have been put in backwards, but then the prop would be on the front of the troll motor. So maybe that's it, the prop is on the wrong end.

Come on people! The only way to reverse a DC motor is to reverse the polarity.
