Am new to the forum and a 'new/old' fisherman. Eagle Mountain Lake is close to me and, thankfully, has a boat ramp that is usable at Fort Worth Bass Club, Azle,Texas.
Anyone familiar with the lake or fishing there lately that would share some good bass spots on the lake to try?
I have only been on the lake one time as just bought a bass rig so hate to run all over the place on a lake that I am not all that familiar with to do a little fishing.
thanks,
Lee in Texas

Lee in Texas, Did you find out anything? I'm also new and close to Eagle Mountain and also just bought a Bass Boat rig. Please share if you learned where to go and what to use to catch some Bass.

Well, the weather did NOT co-operate, cold and dreary, so I did not get to go. I don't mind sharing any information I get. But, please, ya'll remember, I have not fished this lake before and the equipment I am going to use I am also unfamiliar with.
But, I sure want to learn and anything I happen to find out or catch, will surely share.
Lord, it's a big lake. Lots of room for all..

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who is relatively 'new'.
As I am older, I am waiting for the weather to break, a little warmer. That and for the water temp to warm a bit.
I believe from everything I know and read, when the temp reaches around 60, the spring spawn will start and the bass will start biting.
On my last outing, the water temp was around 56 degrees.
Anyhow, I will share anything I learn

I predominately fish crappie, but I catch a few bass while crappie fishing...brush piles are best,(not telling locations though) but I also catch a few shooting docks and marinas. Caught some nice ones on shallow rocks and SEVERAL in the brush on walnut creek...as far as bait, I use little 1/8th and 1/16th ounce jigs...my buddy is a bass fisherman and he won't use anything that small...think we caught 6-7 bass yesterday...2 were in the 5lb range.

Welcome to the Forum Lee. I know nothing of value on that lake or I would share. Good luck.

Honestly, on this lake bass are not very hard to catch. Square bills in chartreuse with black back is a really good color by docks or on the rocks. This time of the year fishing shallow should work with a variety of lures. It is also a very good sand bass lake. I have caught a lot early in the morning at the dam.

http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/images/icons/default/smirk.gif Thanks for the welcome !!

Guess there are some 'more hardy' souls out there than I am. Brrrrrrrr.....it was too cold and way to windy for me to enjoy a day fishing. Man, can't wait for the darn weather to break just a little and warm up some....
LOL, guess ya'll could call me a 'real fair weather fisherman'...

Lee, on this lake all you need to do is find a cove and beat the shoreline with a baby brush hog- watermelon red. you will get bit eventually, also pitch docks and fish points on the opposite side of the wind. I have fished it for several years and these are my go to techniques. Good Luck and hope to see you out soon.
