Hey guys at our last get together we threw around the idea of a bunch of us driving down together and fishing a KATS series tournament in Austin next year. thumb
I think it would be a blast to reach out a little farther then we usually do and fish new water. That and it would be a blast to go down camp out and shoot the bull/talk trash with the southern guys the day before the tournament. cheers
Here's the schedule.
January 26th Decker
February 23rd Bastrop- roadrunner event(North and South Shores)
March 23rd Fayette
April 27th Travis
May 18th Canyon
September 7th Classic (Location TBA)

I was thinking the March or April date would be a nice time to camp out and fish. From the information I'm able to gather there are cabins at Fayette that can be rented for $45 a night.
Here's a link to that lake.

What are y'alls thoughts?

The Bastrop and Fayette ones seem the most appealing to me... Bastrop is a state park that has cabins and looks like some of them might sleep 5-6 guys too... Might be a lot of fun to hit up the 80 degree power plant lake in February after our long north texas winters with water temps still in the 40s maybe up here...

I'm game. Those guys down there are great fishermen and awesome dudes as well. I think you'd have to go into it knowing that your chances of being competitive are pretty slim. Those guys know those lakes like the back of their hands and many of them spend hundreds of hours prefishing for each individual event. They don't play!

I think the biggest thing to consider is what is going on with our own series up here? Fishing/prefishing for our series would be a priority for me so we'll just have to wait and see what's going on with it I'm thinking...

Yea, I really see little if any chance to place well down fishing their water, but it will be cool to show up with a caravan of us driving down and showing up on their turf to fish and share comraderie on a great trip.

I too agree that priority would be on fishing and pre-fishing the NTKT tournaments. Robbie said something about changing a date so it didn't conflict with KATS. Has anyone spoken with Rob lately to find out what the final dates are for NTKT?

Sounds like fun! I would be in as long as there are no conflicts with our tournaments up here or work. It will be fun just spending the weekend fishing new water.

We are working on it and NTKT will not be on same dates.

Hey all, its Marcus. Just an FYI dont get discouraged about fishing our southern lakes. Honestly last year a lot of normally competitive anglers did not do well. Guys with lots of experience on these lakes. Remember, fishing is truly a fair fight sport.
Also i believe the nice cabins on Fayette are $100 but can sleep a whole mess of fisherman. They may also be closed during the tourney. Bastrop has $45 cabins but isnt a state park. Although Bastrop has a state park its not where KATS will be at. Wouldn't want you guys showing up to the wrong lake, I always welcome your entry fee to fatten up my winning pot LOL.
If you guys cant make it to prefish I'm sure me and a few others may throw you a bone or two to chew on. I mean I would feel bad doing the preverbial "taking candy from a baby" routine. Ok enough smack talk.
I will be camping every event except Decker so post over on AKF we'll be sure to show you a great time down here. - DirtyMarcus

If I go as far as Fayette I will keep going on to Rockport or Mustang Island...

I might join in on one of these, put me down as a maybe.
