Going to Tawakoni Saturday to fish for stripers. Never fished for them before. Went to Academy tonight and purchased another Abu-Garcia 6500 C reel and an All-Star 7'2" " Big Cranking" fast medium-heavy acrion rod. They were marked down from 129.95 to 89.95. Hope this combine will do what I need.

It will work just fine. Spool it with 17 - 20 lb just in case you hang into a good one. Finding them is not that east unless you see birds. There are several folks around there that will give you some pointers if your lucky enough to run into them. If you find em, they are usually cooperative. Good luck and have fun.

Good luck

You will be fine. That's a good combo. I use the 5500s with cheap Berkeley lightening rods and do quite well. I will also be at tawak this weekend, I and the wife are having a little "get away" will be there from Saturday till Monday. Good luck and if you see me out, holler. White SEA-PRO center console.
