My fishin' club that I started up about 3 weeks ago is just now wrapping up our first event. We called the event the Purtis Creek Crusade and 8 guys went. The night started out like any other night on Purtis, slow. But the fishin' started to pick up and a couple of good size LMB were caught, big one went 6lb 9oz. As the night grew strong, some of the guys went back to camp but 2 guys remained. They had about 3 or 4 poles out trying to catch catfish. From what I have heard, they were both watching the poles and one went whooooop and Josh Thomas, BMBM Catfish King, ran and grabbed on, set the hook and did another whoooop. I was talkin' on the phone with Marshall and he said, "Dude, he's got a monster, I gotta go.." I get a picture message and I go I instantly called them and said dude, I think you just caught the lake record and of course he said no way! I checked and sure enough, there isn't a record on file for a blue cat. But still, this thing is monstrous! The Official Purtis Creek State Park Blue Catfish Record!! 45.50" 41.02lbs Joshua Thomas 11/09/2012 Also qualifies for a Big Fish Award! This is his second Big Fish Award fish he's caught the other one was a 6lb+ LMB.  Enjoy! P.S. Released to grow even fatter!
