My son is in the 5th grade and can't wait until he is old enough to try to form a team at our small school. Breaks my heart! wink

There are middle school events and clubs. Federation of Student Anglers fishingstudents.com is forming chapter level clubs in various areas which means your middle schoolers can competitive fish and represent their school, without the big hassle of building a school club. I'm involved in our Lone Star chapter covering the Austin area. You might check it out and see what's in your area. As with most extra curricular events and clubs, we always need parent volunteers to make things work though.

Hi... I am an avid 14 year old bass fisherman and I had a few questions. First off, I have a nice nitro and my Dad could be a boat captain....but I was wondering if i could bring a buddy of mine who doesn't have a boat with me to fish in the tournament? He has a passion for bass fishing but doesn't have the circumstances to own a boat, so I wanted to take him and let him fish in a tounrament. I know we couldn't be partners but i still want to take him. Also the day of the tournament I turn 15 years old...so would I compete in the 15-18 year old divison? My last question is would I get to fish in my own boat and my dad would be my captain, or would I fish in another boat with another captain? Thank You

texasfisherman1 - That's awesome you and your buddy want to fish, and we'd love to have you join us! Both you and your buddy just need to be SAF members, and you can both fish with your dad as the captain - no problem... Sounds like a great birthday present to come fish a tournament. We don't have any age divisions in this tournament - we will just have 1st-3rd places overall and 1 big bass award. The sign-up form will at the ramp on tournament day (I'll try to get that on here asap) but basically just have your SAF membership number ready.
What town will you be coming from?

Keep an eye on SAF Open Tournaments Page for different High School tournaments. Marble Falls will be hosting the State Tournament in March at Lake LBJ so that's probably our next big focus from our club.

For those fishing tomorrow... I'm a little late, but please fill out these forms and bring with you (each student), or plan on filling them out at registration in the morning at the ramp.
