Hey guys relatively new to the forum but not new to angling. Past couple of months I haven't been able to locate the catfish like I used to. I've been trying everything from Secret 7 to stink bait in every depth column and I am stumped. I try local ponds that used to produce consistent results sometimes even landing double now they are gone. Trying nearby lakes is an option but I wouldn't know any spots y'all got any pointers? They would fall on eager ears!

P.S I do not have a boat at the moment but guys I'm saving up for one!
thanks

Not sure about your area, but i know the local ponds around here that are stocked regularly get fished out within the first couple weeks.

Hopefully someone will chime in soon on a good bank spot close to you! Good luck

I thank God for each day!

Does Lavon hold good cats? I've always been told that is the crappie lake that would be great though.

I used to fish Twin lakes (Coit and Campbell) north side but it seems after they did the renovation it hasn't been producing much.

lavon has good cats in it, buy you a cast net and catch fresh shad and throw out some lines.

Y'all use circle hooks? I work at academy and picked up some 4/0 I use shad usually. Since I'm from the bank should I go on the bottom? Or suspended?

I'd go with a larger hook size to hold bigger bait. I'm using 8/0 Gamas right now. Santee or 3-way rig 1-2 feet off the bottom.

well my hook size pretty much determines what size cat I'm going for right? and those 8/0 are huge which would require huge bait no problem I have a cast net but my pole wouldn't handle anything over 15 pounder. What kind of pole do y'all recommend and what strength and type of line

You can get his fishing rod. The 10 footers are great. And get his ne circle hooks. He has them in 6 to 9/0.
