Let me first say I'm terrible with a spinning reel. Need some tips or a lesson. I got tired of sucking with my last combo and sold it. (pretty nice Johnny Morris combo). I want something for drop shotting and throwing small crank baits a long way. Any suggestions? I would love to find a bait casting combo for this but don't know what type of rod to get. I guess I need a spinning rod if I really want to drop shot. Thanks for any suggestions.

Falcon bucoo cranker spin and falcon volt spinning reel.
The rod will work perfect for drop shots and light crankbaits

Different strokes. You don't have to be good with a spinning reel,or various techniques. You just have to be good at what you like to do. Save your money and be good with your baitcasting techniques.

St. Croix makes great spinning rods. The Avid line is EXCELLENT.
I recommend the Legend Elite LES76MLXF,
or the Avid AVS76MLXF for the that you are interested in.
The very first St. Croix that I ever own is my AS76MLXF. This is an older version of the AVS76MLXF. I have caught many, many bass and other fish with this rod. It is in my opinion the best rod out there for dropshoting. It also excels for 4 inch Senkos, and 4 inch slim Senkos, and Super Fluke Jr.s.
For a reel I would look at a Dawia Procyon PRCY2000SH for use with mono or copolymer lines. For line I would recommend either P-Line CX Premium, I prefer the Clear/Florescent Blue, or Mason Bass On in either eight, or ten pound test.
The Elite is going to be a super premium rod. The Avid is a very high quality rod but its not in the same ball park as the Elite.
